![]() Quimper French Faience J C Taburet PlaqueJean Claude Taburet opened his Design Atelier in 1984, having previously worked for the Hubaudiere and Keraluc faienceries. This stunning large and heavy piece is typical of his work. The strikingly colourful pattern in relief is in shades of red, orange, and turquoise on indigo blue. This heart-shaped plaque, designed to be flat rather than hung, is in very good condition, with just a few rubs to the surface due to wear. Ref: W017 ~ Price £60GBP ![]() Desvres Fourmaintraux Houzel Seagull Wall PocketThis Desvres wall pocket is of a seagull in flight, decorated with floral sprays, a butterfly and the Arms of Brittany. It is marked on the back in manganese 'Saint-Quay-Portrieux' and is probably by the Fourmaintraux- Houzel faiencerie, c1905-20. It is in very good bright condition, with only small rubs to the wing and above the restuck glass eye and with a flake of enamel loss to the beak.Size: Length 30cm., height 11cm., depth 6cm. Ref: S037 ~ Price £35GBP ![]() Desvres Fourmaintraux Freres Auvergne PlateThis Desvres early piece is an attractively painted, heavily potted plate with a deep base rim, pierced for hanging. The central picture of a lady in regional dress, probably from the Auvergne, is very carefully painted. The plate is marked in manganese with the 'FF' signature, and dates from 1879-87. Apart from some rim glaze skips, it is in excellent, undamaged condition.Size: Diam. 19cm. Each is marked 'HB Quimper France 206. 1086', and carries the painter's marks ( . : ). Ref: Q153 ~ Price £35GBP (the pair) ![]() HB Quimper One-Handled Bowl & SaucerThis unusual Quimper pair is decorated 'a la touche' in green, blue and rust-red and dates from the 1930's. The bowl has an impressed '4' and 'Quimper -..-' painted in red on the base. The matching saucer is unmarked, and has 'stilt' marks to the rear, indicating an early piece. The condition of the saucer is excellent; the bowl has a small section of glaze loss to the rim and a professional repair to a rim chip, but is otherwise in good, bright condition.Size: Bowl diam.11.5cm., saucer diam.16.5cm. Ref: J106 ~ Price £25GBP ![]() Malicorne Nevers Style Small PlateA small Malicorne plate with a central design of flowers (?coltsfoot) and with small sprigs on the wide border. This design, with its pleasing soft colours is illustrated in 'Les Faiences de Malicorne' by Deschang and Kervella where it is described as a copy of 18C Nevers, from the early 20C Pouplard Beatrix faiencerie. This plate is in excellent undamaged condition and is unmarked.Size: Diam. 17cm Ref: P004 ~ Price £18 ![]() Malicorne Octagonal Rouen Pattern Lobed DishThis Malicorne Rouen pattern dish is decorated in blues and yellows on a pinkish-cream base, with the Brittany Arms in the centre, and bows and swags around the lobed edge. It is marked on the base with 'PBx' in manganese, and dates from the early 20th.C. The overall condition is very good, and there have been careful repairs to some small chips on the edges of three of the lobes of the rim. Ref: M131 ~ Price £30GBP ![]() Malicorne Pouplard Beatrix 'Blue Flowers' PlateThis substantial Malicorne plate is decorated with a centre-piece of blue-toned flowers, surrounded by typical Pouplard Beatrix border garlands, on a creamy glaze base with the reddish clay showing through. It is unmarked and dates from the period 1900-40. The plate has the usual Malicorne crazing and is in excellent condition, with just one fleabite to the rim.Size: Diam. 25cm. The design is in bright polychrome colours on clear white. It is marked 'GM' and'1927' on the base in blue, dating the vase to the period 1922-40. The condition is very good, with only a slight loss of enamel to the outer top rim, and a fleabite and some crazing to the insde rim. It is marked to the base in blue with the Fourmaintraux & Delassus signature, and dates from the period 1930-35. It has seen use, and although it has a number of rubs to the candle-holder rim, and small amounts of enamel loss to other points of the piece, it remains a very unusual and attractive piece.Size: Height 15cm., max.width 13cm. It is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or hairlines; slight dullness to raised parts, due to usage, and two small flakes of enamel missing from the rim. It is marked 'HB Quimper' and '1068', together with a painter's mark, all in black, and dates from c1930. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or hairlines; one tiny flake of enamel is missing from the woman's apron. It is marked 'HB Quimper' and '1068', together with a painter's mark, all in black, and dates from c1930. Ref: Q184Y ~ Price £30GBP ![]() HB Croisillee Pattern Quimper PlateThis carefully painted heavy Quimper plate has a geomtric pattern in gentle colours of blue, green and red, with banding in blue, yellow and manganese. The mark 'HB' in blue on the back,dates the plate to the period 1883-1904. The condition of the plate is excellent, despite slight surface firing flaws. The reverse has the customary 'stilt' marks, an indicator of its age.Size: Diam. 23cm. It displays a couple in regional costumes and also has fleur-de-lys decoration. It is marked 'PBx' to the reverse in manganese, and probaly dates from the first quarter of the 20th.C. It is in very good condition, with only a firing flaw and two small chips to the hanging loop, and small rubs to the bottom points. The design is typical of Pouplard Beatrix, and the platter is marked as such, with 'PBx' in manganese on the base, dating the platter to c1900.
