Rambervillers Cytere Twin-Spouted Vase Peruvien

This spectacular blue and silver metallic lustre twin-spouted 'vase peruvien' has dramatic glaze effects and is in immaculate condition. It bears the impressed mark 'Cytere' to the base, and dates from the period c1920-33.

Greber French Art Pottery Sailing Boat Bowl

This very interesting Greber bowl has a freely drawn design of an early sailing boat in colours of orange, brown and blue. This unusual piece has a stamped mark 'Greber' in script and capitals, and 'BEAUVAIS FRANCE'. This mark is often foumd on pieces decorated by Pierre Greber's wife and daughter, but there are no initials in ink. It dates from the mid 20th.C, and is in excellent, undamaged condition.

Desvres 'Gres Grand Feu' Hexagonal Vase

This unusual and rare Desvres vase dates from c1920-30 when the Fourmaintreaux-Delassus Faiencerie was experimenting with stoneware (gres) production. The shape is hexagonal and lobed, with a crackle glaze beneath the smooth, almost 'flamme', effect. It is marked to the base with 'France' and numbers in black, and an impressed 'FD' mark. It is generally in very good condition, but there is an old 2cm. professional repair to the neck rim, only apparent under magnification.

Pierrefonds French Art Pottery Small Jardiniere

This attractive hexagonal Pierrefonds jardiniere has a central drainage hole, and is glazed in typical blues and browns. The base has the usual Pierrefonds marks and '610'. It dates from c1920-25 and is in perfect condition.

Rambervillers Cytere Metallic Lustre Octopus Vase

This unusual French Art Pottery metallic gold lustre vase bears marks to the base 'reflets metalliques', 'Rambervillers Vosges'and 'Unis France', and dates from around 1930. It has octopus-like ridges around the neck of the vase, and is in excellent condition, with only a few rubs in the glaze.

French Art Pottery Signed Red Lustre Vase

This beautifully potted small globular vase has a superb red lustrous glaze, streaked with silver-grey and brown, and bears an unrcognised script signture to its unglazed base (see blow-up picture). It appears to date from the early 20thC., and is in excellent condition, apart from a patch of chipping to its tiny rim.

Denbac Small Three-Handled Deco Vase

This very attractive, beautifully made Denbac three-handled vase has a lobed lower part which flows very neatly into the upper part with its three handles, It is glazed in typically Denbac soft merging colours of greenish grey and various shades of brown. It bears the usual script mark 'Denbac' and '989', and is in perfect condition, with no faults.

Pierrefonds Small Flower Vase

This small Pierrefonds French Art Pottery flower vase has a brown and green splashed glaze with some crystallisation in the brown glaze near the base. It is clearly stamped to the base with the Pierrefonds mark, 'FH' and crest, and dates from the early 20thC. This attractive little piece is in excellent condition, with no faults.

Rambervillers French Art Pottery Tall Pitcher

This very striking pitcher has a high-fired glaze finish, in flowing green, yellow, brown and blue, and appears in the 1920 Rambervillers catalogue. It is marked to the base with the circular mark used from 1918 to the early 1920's. It is in excellent condition, with just one small rub to the base rim.

Denbac French Art Pottery Deco Jug

This small jug, in characteristic Denbac colours of orange-brown on darker brown, has a slim shape with a deco angled handle, and is a later production. It bears the impressed marks to the base 'Denbac'(in script) and '326'. It is in excellent condition, with no faults.

G. Metenier French Art Pottery Tapered Vase

This delicate tapered Metenier vase, with indented panels, is glazed in shades of brown, beige and orange, and is clearly marked to the base with the 'G.Metenier' signature, and 'Roc-Amadour' printed in black. It is in excellent undamaged condition, with no chips, cracks or hairlines, and dates from c1925.

Roger Guerin Belgian Art Pottery Cup & Saucer

This unusual stoneware cup and saucer, dating from the period 1930-50, has five fleur-de-lys applied to the cup in relief, and the saucer bears the impressed mark 'Guerin'. The cup is in very good condition, with only one very small chip to its foot. The saucer is attractively glazed, and has some crazing and blistering which occurred during firing.

Roger Guerin Belgian Art Pottery Vase

This large and interesting oatmeal splashed over brown glazed vase from the Belgian Bouffioulx Pottery dates from the period c1920-40, and has the incised signature 'Guerin' to the base. The vase has firing faults to the salt-glazed interior, two of which extend to the top rim, but none are visible on the exterior, which is in lovely condition.

Clement Massier French Art Pottery Cup & Saucer

This eye-catching and unusually 'fluid' cup and saucer by Clement Massier has a lustrous deep pink glaze and a very definite 'Art Nouveau' appearance. The back of the saucer bears the impressed marks (in a triangle) 'Clement Massier', 'Golfe Juan' and 'A.M.'. The cup base, being quite small, only bears the last two marks. The overall condition of the two pieces is excellent, other than a small chip to the spout of the cup (illustrated in the blow-up), and some minor rubs to the rim pf the cup.

Pierrefonds French Art Pottery Triangular Vase

This unusual Pierrefonds vase starts as a round form at the base, and then changes to a three-cornered shape at the top rim. The streaked blue colours have a transluscence at the rim. This surprisingly heavy small vase is marked on the base with the impressed 'FH' stamp, 'Pierrefonds' and '612', and dates from the 1930's. It is in perfect condition, with no faults.

Gilbert Metenier French Art Pottery Four-Lobed Bowl

This interesting hexagonal stoneware bowl, with a streaky glaze in shades of grey-green and brown, is beautifully potted with four lobes, and dates from the first quarter of the 20thC. Although it bears no marks, it is most likely to be by Gilbert Metenier, in terms of style and colouration. It is in excellent undamaged condition.

Rene Brenner French Art Pottery Bayeux Tapestry Vase

This small Rene Brenner vase, with a cartouche containing a Bayeux Tapestry-like figure and wording, is very similar in style to the Desmant productions at Subles. However, the Brenner pieces were made later, at Caen, and date from the 1920's. This vase is incised 'RB' on the base, and is in excellent condition, with just two small rubs on the neck rim.

This heavy stoneware tray, in Denbac hallmark colours of dark brown and beige, bears a clear 'Denbac' mark in relief script to the rear, and dates from the 1930's. It is in excellent condition, with no faults.

Gilbert Metenier French Art Pottery Pitcher

This nicely shaped Metenier pitcher is in matt shades of blue-grey on browns, in a glaze which pools to a lustrous finish around the neck. The angled handle is a deco feature, and this piece dates from 1920-35. It is undoubtedly a Metenier product, although the printed Metenier signature on the base is barely legible. It is in excellent undamaged condition.

Pierrefonds French Art Pottery Crystalline Vase

This handsome Pierrefonds vase has a broad base tapering to a small top rim, from which three right-angled handles are attached to the body. In shades of blue and brown, the vase has striking 'crystallisations' in bursts of colour on the body, and is one of the shapes featured in factory photographs from the 1920's. It is marked on the base with the Pierrefonds 'FH' stamp, and the shape number '565'. The overall condition of the vase is very good, with no faults other than a barely visible professional repair to one handle.
